Vintage History: The First Recorded Fashion Show

Images from one of the earliest recorded fashion shows. Taken in 1915, these looks were intended for the entire household, including children and servants, and were showcased in a vaudeville theater on Broadway. Though "fashion week" didn't get its start until the 1940s, the idea of runway shows was not new.

And since this show took place during WWI, when trade with Europe was difficult, it is also records a significant moment in fashion history when Americans were forced to stop taking their cues from Paris, and develop their own unique designs.

I just wish I could see better what the dog is wearing in #16...
